June stories

I love June. All the little seedlings you nurtured through colder months on windowsills are out in the garden, faces up to the sun on strong stems. Freshly boiled new potatoes steaming in a colander are delicious just as they are. The smell of barbecues drifts on weekend breezes. You might hear a cork pop in a neighbouring garden. Your skin is warmed by the sun and scented by coconutty suncream. The sea sparkles with an absurd diamond shine. Sparrows wake you up with their perky chirping.

I think it's the best time for the garden. Everything is green, lush, bright, tall, strong, and full. Nothing has died off yet, it boasts with life. Bees are mad with nectar. There's still promise of late summer plants to come.

For Terra Legra, June has been incredibly busy. Some of my work has included:

  • Planting plans for a coastal cottage
  • Planting up a garden that I started planning back in March
  • Continuing with my wild woodland garden project for a client near the Belfairs area
  • Transforming a front garden in Southend
  • Revealing a back garden from an overgrown wilderness (and planning some meadow planting...)
I'm meeting new clients all the time and seeing how I can help them with their garden plans, or coming up with ideas if they haven't got any! I want to give people a love for their gardens, to make them feel excited for their spaces.

The front garden I am working on in Southend is part of a wider project - I'm on a mission to get people embracing their front gardens. They are so visible and it's lovely to have a front garden you can be proud of. Do you have a front garden that needs some TLC? Don't know what to plant in it? Is something struggling / taking over? Contact me for a free visit and we can go from there.
